  4. Statistics From 1/9/2006 to 31/12/2011, the Greek EURAXESS Services Network has assisted: • More than 4000 researchers in… • More than 8500 questions • The average speed of answering is: 2 days • Most popular topics are: • Entry Conditions / Visa • Researchers Funding Opportunities • Job Opportunities • Accommodation

  5. Nevertheless, apart from serving researchers, national EURAXESS networks’ mission is also the promotion of the European policies and initiatives at national level Thus…

  6. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece Scientific Visa Intense collaboration and several meetings of the Greek EURAXESS Network (acting as “liaison”) with relevant ministries (Ministry of Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) lead to the transposition of the “Scientific Visa” into the Greek legislation • Immigration Law No 3386/2005 • Provision of a specific article (No 43) on theadmissionof 3rd country researchersinGreece • Presidential Decree 128/2008 • Full endorsement of the Directive 2005/71/EC • Hosting Agreement  • Provision for family members  • Problem: Lack of Ministerial Circular – Interpretation of the Law and instructions to public servants

  7. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece European Partnership for Researchers • For the implementation of the EPR, the Greek EURAXESS Network: • Collaborated with ministries: Participated at the National Expert Group for the development of the National Action Plan • Represented Greece in the Steering Group in Human Resources and Mobility • Problem: Due to internal structural changes at the GSRT, the National Action Plan wasn’t agreed

  8. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece Charter& Code (1/2) • On 11 March 2005, the EC issued a recommendation on the European Charter for Researchers and on a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers • By mid 2008, none Greek research organisation had endorsed the C&C principles • Currently, 12 Greek research organisations and the Hellenic Universities’ Rectors Synod have undersigned the C&C 10 of them are members of the Greek EURAXESS Network!! • Problem: The mobilisation of the Greek research community towards the endorsement of the Charter&Code is only supported by the Greek EURAXESS Services Network

  9. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece Charter& Code (2/2) • Problem: Apart from CERTH, no other organisation has performed an internal analysis neither is near on receiving the “HR Excellence in Research” logo • Future goals: • Undersigned institutions should develop a HR Strategy respecting the C&C principles • Promote the C&C principles in the Greek research community and increase the number of undersigned institutions

  10. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece EURAXESS Jobs (1/2) The Greek EURAXESS Network has worked hard on promoting the EURAXESS Jobs portal and increasing the number of job vacancies published in it. Additionally, the GSRT sends regularly all research job vacancies to CERTH in order to be uploaded on EURAXESS Jobs portal. During Jan– April 2012, 814 Greek jobs vacancies have been published!!

  11. Promoting EU mobility policies in Greece EURAXESS Jobs(2/2) • Problems: • The involvement of the industrial sector is minimum (<1% of the total published jobs) • The majority of the jobs are published by the members of the EURAXESS Network (90-95% University jobs, 25-30% Research Centres’ jobs) • Future goals: • Increase published jobs coming from research centres and industry

  12. Future Challenges • Transposition of the “Blue Card Directive” into the Greek legislation • Promotion of the EU Pension Fund for Researchers
