  1. WOUND CARE IN ATLANTA, GA

  2. WHAT IS WOUND CARE? As a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Work is increasingly treating patients requiring wound care as a result of trauma or injury. As a specialized plastic surgeon, Dr. Work is an expert in many of the most common wound care procedures, such as microsurgery, tissue expansion, skin grafting and free flap procedures. His unique insights and expertise as a plastic surgeon also allow him to identify modalities that could prevent the need for future corrective surgery.

  3. WOUND CARE Physical trauma and injury can affect your quality of life, altering your lifestyle and limiting your social options. The Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, led by Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., is a full-service plastic surgery facility offering comprehensive, compassionate reconstructive surgery for patients suffering from conditions in need of wound care in and around Atlanta, Buckhead, Vinings and Sandy Springs.

  4. WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE WOUND CARE PROCEDURE? Dr. Work will assess the severity and magnitude of your trauma or injury and whether bleeding is under control. Medications offering pain relief and possible antibiotics will be administered, depending on the specific injury. The wound will be prepared for treatment via irrigation and debridement using a balanced salt solution to dislodge dirt. The wound will be sutured shut once the necessary time has passed to prevent closing a wound while contaminated, usually about 24 hours. In some cases, closure of the wound may be delayed for several days to prevent internal infection. Once it is determined safe, the wound will be sutured and dressings applied to enhance the healing process.
