  15.  Integration of AYUSH and Allopathy  AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga & naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy  Challenges: Allopathy is insufficient

  16.  Holistic medicine is a kind of healing that considers the entire person - body, mind, soul, and emotions - for optimum health & wellness.  According to this holistic medicine philosophy, an individual can attain optimum health - by gaining appropriate balance in life.  Whole person consists of interdependent components and if one part isn't functioning correctly, all of the other components will be affected.  In this way, if individuals have migraines (physical, psychological, or spiritual) in their own lives, it can negatively impact their general health.

  17.  A holistic physician may use all kinds of healthcare, from traditional medication to alternative therapies, to treat a patient.  Example- for migraine - rather than only medications, the physician will probably have a peek at all the possible factors that might be causing the individual's headaches, such as other health issues, diet and sleep habits, stress and personal problems, and favored spiritual practices.  The treatment plan may involve medication to alleviate symptoms, but also

  18.  Holistic medicine is based on the belief that unconditional support and love is the most effective healer and a man or woman is ultimately responsible for their own health and well-being.  Other principles of holistic medicine include the following:  All people have inherent healing abilities.  The individual is an individual, not a disorder.  Healing requires a team approach between the patient and physician, and addresses all aspects of an individual's life using many different practices.  Treatment involves fixing the cause of the problem, not only alleviating the symptoms.

  19.  A wide range of treatment methods to assist their patients take responsibility for their own well- being and attain optimal health. Based upon the practitioner's training, these may include:  Patient education on lifestyle changes and self- care to promote health. This may include diet, exercise, psychotherapy, spiritual and relationship counselling etc.  Complementary and alternative therapies like acupuncture, chiropractic care, homeopathy, massage therapy, naturopathy, and many others  Allopathic drugs and surgical procedures

  20.  American Holistic Health Association  In India, expert committee was set up by Dept. of AYUSH to develop a holistic medical system.  Objectives determined by committee- ◦ Plan a holistic wellness program requiring help of all systems of medicine. ◦ Suggest proper training courses.

  21.  Community attempt  Initiated by VYASA (Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana)  Aim- To prevent India from becoming 'Diabetes capital of world'  Objectives- ◦ Prevent pre diabetics from becoming diabetic. ◦ Avoid complications of diabetes.

  22.  Holistic health depends upon our attitude and dedication.  If we want to solve human health problems with a good outcome then holistic health and holistic management of health care is the Solution.  Holistic health is sustainable and cost-effective.  It's non-discriminatory.  It addresses issues of fairness and social justice.  It retains all of the viable options open.
