  2. 大澳特色 大澳是大嶼山最西的一個地區，位處香港的邊陲。大澳位於鹹淡水交界，在淺水區域長有不少紅樹林，加上又是附近水域的陸地，所以在昔日欠缺機動漁船的條件下，這是一個理想的捕魚場，同時亦是來往中港船隻的中途補給站。除了海上經濟活動外，大澳尚有陸上的經濟活動 – 鹽田和水稻。不過隨著香港農業的萎縮，以上各項經濟活動日漸息微。由於大澳漁村昔日是繁榮的漁港，涌口一帶以木柱將木屋架在水中，便於泊船和水上人家居住，形成特殊的「棚屋」景觀，是香港最具水鄉風情的地方兼享有東方威尼斯雅號。近年，大澳不斷改變。尤其在交通建設方面，與巿區的距離拉近了不少。現在大澳不獨是一個漁村，更是受外國人歡迎的旅遊盛地。
