pH Scale

pH Scale. pH- the measurement of the concentration of H + ions in it. It measures how acidic or basic a solution is. The greater the H + concentration, the lower the pH and the more acidic it is. The pH scale ranges from 0-14. Acidic Neutral Basic

  2. pH- the measurement of the concentration of H+ ions in it. • It measures how acidic or basic a solution is.

  3. The greater the H+ concentration, the lower the pH and the more acidic it is. • The pH scale ranges from 0-14.

  4. Acidic Neutral Basic 0--------------------7------------------14 ↑ H+↑OH- ↓ OH- ↓ H+ Strong Weak Weak Strong

  5. Acidic Neutral Basic (pH 0-7) (pH 7) (pH 7-14) -Pure Water Strong Weak Weak Strong pH= pH= pH= pH= 0-3 3-7 7-10 10-14

  6. Buffer- a solution containing ions to minimize the effects on pH.
