  3. THE “GREAT CRISIS” OF THE SUNDAY LAW PRODUCES THE TRUE REMNANT CHURCH: What are you doing, brethren, in the great work of preparation? Those who are uniting with the world are receiving the worldly mold and preparing for themark of the beast.

THE “GREAT CRISIS” OF THE SUNDAY LAW PRODUCES THE TRUE REMNANT CHURCH: Those who are distrustful of self, who are humbling themselves before God and purifying their souls by obeying the truth these are receiving the heavenly mold and preparing for the seal of Godin their foreheads. When the decree goes forth and the stamp is impressed, their character will remain pure and spotless for eternity.{Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 216}

THE “GREAT CRISIS” OF THE SUNDAY LAW PRODUCES THE TRUE REMNANT CHURCH: The remnant church will be brought into great trial and distress.Those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, will feel the ire of the dragon and his hosts. Satan numbers the world as his subjects; he has gained control of the apostate churches; but here is a little companythat are resisting his supremacy. If he could blot them from the earth, his triumph would be complete. As he influenced the heathen nations to destroy Israel, so in the near future he will stir up the wicked powers of earth to destroy the people of God. All will be required to render obedience to human edicts in violation of the divine law…{Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 231}

Support will be withdrawn from those who proclaim God's only standard of righteousness, the only sure test of character. And all who will not bow to the decrees of the national councils and obey the national laws to exalt the sabbath instituted by the man of sin to the disregard of God's holy day, will feel, not the oppressive power of popery alone, but of the Protestant world, the image of the beast…

  8. THE “GREAT CRISIS” OF THE SUNDAY LAW PRODUCES THE TRUE REMNANT CHURCH: Satan will work his miracles to deceive; he will set up his power as supreme. The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out--the chaff separated from the precious wheat.This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place. None but those who have been overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony will be found with the loyal and true, without spot or stain of sin, without guile in their mouths…

Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.“ …

TIDINGS OUT OF THE EAST AND OUT OF THE NORTH The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel's message as it swells to a LOUD CRY. And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel's message. {Early Writings, p. 277}

TIDINGS OUT OF THE EAST AND OUT OF THE NORTH As the members of the body of Christ approach the period of their last conflict, "the time of Jacob's trouble," they will grow up into Christ, and will partake largely of His spirit. As the third message swells to a LOUD CRY, and as great power and glory attend the closing work, the faithful people of God will partake of that glory. It is the latter rain which revives and strengthens them to pass through the time of trouble. Their faces will shine with the glory of that light which attends the third angel. {Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, p. 353}

TIDINGS OUT OF THE EAST AND OUT OF THE NORTH Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call is heard: "Come out of her, My people." These announcements, uniting with the third angel's message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {Great Controversy, p. 604}

All that she has done in her persecution of those who reject her dogmas she holds to be right; and would she not repeat the same acts, should the opportunity be presented? Let the restraints now imposed by secular governments be removed and Rome be reinstated in her former power, and there would speedily be a revival of her tyranny and persecution…

She is employing every device to extend her influence and increase her power in preparation for a fierce and determined conflict to regain control of the world, to re-establish persecution, and to undo all that Protestantism has done.{Great Controversy, pp. 564-566}

  18. THE GREAT FURY OF THE KING OF THE NORTH Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected. In the soon-coming conflict we shall see exemplified the prophet's words: "The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and state would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd…

  21. THE GREAT FURY OF THE KING OF THE NORTH It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been--the defender of religious freedom. But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the third message will produce an effect which it could not have had before. {Great Controversy, p. 605, 606}

  22. THE GREAT FURY OF THE KING OF THE NORTH Conscientious obedience to the word of God will be treated as rebellion. Blinded by Satan, the parent will exercise harshness and severity toward the believing child; the master or mistress will oppress the commandment-keeping servant. Affection will be alienated; children will be disinherited and driven from home. The words of Paul will be literally fulfilled: "All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." 2 Timothy 3:12…

THE GREAT FURY OF THE KING OF THE NORTH As the defenders of truth refuse to honor the Sunday-sabbath, some of them will be thrust into prison, some will be exiled, some will be treated as slaves. To human wisdom all this now seems impossible; but as the restraining Spirit of God shall be withdrawn from men, and they shall be under the control of Satan, who hates the divine precepts, there will be strange developments. The heart can be very cruel when God's fear and love are removed. {Great Controversy, p. 608}

  26. “LITTLE TIME OF TROUBLE” I saw that the holy Sabbath is, and will be, the separating wall between the true Israel of God and unbelievers; and that the Sabbath is the great question to unite the hearts of God's dear, waiting saints. I saw that God had children who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They have not rejected the light upon it. And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully. [SEE PAGE 85.] … {Early Writings, p. 33}

  27. “LITTLE TIME OF TROUBLE” This view was given in 1847 when there were but very few of the Advent brethren observing the Sabbath, and of these but few supposed that its observance was of sufficient importance to draw a line between the people of God and unbelievers. Now the fulfilment of that view is beginning to be seen. "The commencement of that time of trouble," here mentioned does notrefer to the time when the plagues shall begin to be poured out, but to a short period just before they are poured out, while Christ is in the sanctuary…

  28. “LITTLE TIME OF TROUBLE” At that time, while the work of salvation is closing, trouble will be coming on the earth, and the nations will be angry, yet held in check so as not to prevent the work of the third angel. At that time the "latter rain," or refreshing from the presence of the Lord, will come, to give power to the loud voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints to stand in the period when the seven last plagues shall be poured out.{Early Writings, pp. 85, 86}

  29. “LITTLE TIME OF TROUBLE” The two armies will stand distinct and separate, and this distinction will be so marked that many who shall be convinced of truth will come on the side of God's commandment-keeping people. When this grand work is to take place in the battle, prior to the last closing conflict, many will be imprisoned, many will flee for their lives from cities and towns, and many will be martyrsfor Christ's sake in standing in defense of the truth. {The Ellen G. The Glorious Holy Mountain The leaven of unbelief is working, and unless these evils which bring the displeasure of God are corrected in its members, the whole church stands accountable for them… A carnal security and ease in Zion prevail. Peace, peace, is sounded in her borders, when God has not spoken peace. They have forfeited the terms of peace; there is reason for an alarm to be sounded in all "my holy mountain.“ {Ellen G. SATAN STANDS IN BETWEEN THE MESSAGE AND THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH He is a deceiver, and through his serpentine sharpness, through his crooked practices he has drawn to himself the homage which man should have given to God, and has planted his satanic throne between the human worshiper and the divine Father.{Manuscript Releases, vol. 7, p. 215} Just prior to the coming of the Son of man, there is and has been for years a determination on the part of the enemy to cast his hellish shadow right between man and his Saviour… {Manuscript Releases, vol. 6, p.7}

SATAN STANDS IN BETWEEN THE MESSAGE AND THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH The Sabbath is the Lord's test, and no man, be he king, priest, or ruler, is authorized to come between God and man.{Testimonies for the Church, vol.9, p. 234} Formality, worldly wisdom, worldly caution, worldly policy, will appear to many to be the very power of God, but when accepted, it stands as an obstacle to prevent God's light in warnings, reproof, and counsel from coming to the world. {Selected Messages, Book 2, p. 19}

It is to be proclaimed with a loud voice and is to accomplish a work which few realize… Man has interposed between God and the people, and the Lord has sent forth the third angel with the message… {Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, p. 94} Satan will try to interpose himself and discourage the workers, so as to prevent them from giving the message of light and warning… {Testimonies for the Church, vol. 7, p. 34}
