  2. At the beginning . . . • The main character’s name was Curly because of his curly hair as a baby. • He was described to be a baby that never cried. • He always observed the world.

  3. Growing up, Curly . . . • Grew strong and wiry. • Was never tall. • Was a good leader. • Was a good listener. • Was brave. • Conquered a wild horse. • Killed his first buffalo with a bow.

  4. And then . . . • The Wasichu settlers passed through Lakota land and their Army build a fort. • One of the settlers cow strayed into the Lakota Village, trampling down a tipi. The cow was killed by a warrior, which caused the settlers to fire their weapons at the Lakotas. BOOM!!!

  5. Many warriors died. • Curly felt terrible for his people and wanted to seek for help. He decided to prepare for a vision even though he wasn not ready. • He dug a whole and did not eat or drink for three days, finally he saw a vision of man on a horse. The man had a lightning bolt and spots like hail on his chest. He told no one of his vision.

  6. 3 winters passed. • Curly grew wise, serious, and generous. His father saw the man that Curly has become and had a talk with Curly about his vision. • His father passed down his father’s name to curly, Tashunka Witco (Crazy Horse) and said that the person in Curly’s vision was the man Curly will become in the future.

  7. What we learned. • We should seek for guidance when we need help. • We should respect our parents and elders. • If you work hard and believe in yourself, good things will come in the long run. • Stay open-minded and help your people (classmates, teachers, family) • All leaders have courage and are brave and wise. • Everyone should protect what is important to them.
