  2. Introduction • This presentation highlights some of the accolades received by the Solar ready Ultra Low Power consumption solution developed and installed in conjunction with EPT. These include: - • Times Education Supplement Award 2012 • Recommendation by Microsoft.

  3. Times Education Supplement Awards • EPT and Solar Ready installed a new ICT solution at Cadoxton School in Barry, South Wales which won the award for Outstanding ICT Partnership in Education at the Times Education Supplement (TES) Awards 2012 www.tesawards.co.uk • The solution consisted of a solar powered IT system that maximised availability, improved sustainability and minimised the impact on the environment. • Cadoxtonbeat off competition from five other schools who implemented innovative solutions with Apple and HP technology, however Cadoxton’s investment in the innovative, energy efficient and cost effective Solar Powered ICT suite, tipped the balance.

  4. Outstanding ICT PartnershipAward • This category is open to any ICT partnership involving a school and an ICT supplier - for example the trophy could go to a school that has devised an innovative partnership that helps pupils learn out of school. Or it might be awarded to a school and an ICT supplier that has jointly developed a new approach that is tailored to the needs of individual pupils. The judges will want to understand exactly what you've achieved and, most importantly, they'll be keen to hear of clear, quantifiable evidence of the success of the partnership. Entries are welcome from schools themselves, or the ICT suppliers they have worked with.

  5. Times Education Supplement Awards • The suite creates more space, a comfortable environment with NO heat and NO noise, is really inviting and encourages the pupils to want to work, but most importantly it has NO Electricity bill! • Solar Ready technology has also been installed in TEN junior classrooms across the school, providing each teacher with their own 7 or 8 user computer suite in their own classroom. The solution is based on Microsoft Windows Multipoint Server 2011 which allows 20 virtual users to share a single PC via zero client devices.  Pupils now have access to computers every day to help with learning. Before they had to schedule sessions in the dedicated ICT suite once a week. • Janet Hayward, Head teacher, immediately saw improvements in pupil’s attitudes and work.  Janet has calculated that the school benefits from a £10,000 reduction in their annual electricity bill, which will be sustained for years to come. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE5KLQ4JlLo&feature=youtu.be
