Universal Design for Learning • Multiple means of representation (e.g. digital and or electronic formats; text to speech, video) • Multiple means of expression • Multiple means of engagement • Curriculum adaptations (e.g. defining purpose, concept in advance; using graphic displays; variety of teaching devices to facilitate understanding)

  3. Universal Design for Learning • Curriculum Augmentations (e.g. chunking, cognitive-cuing structure (word, sentence, picture) • Ensuring physical and cognitive access • Educational and assistive technology (reduces impact of impairment –e.g. augmentative communication devices

Universal Design for Learning • Technologically based strategies and methods: • Video, CD, DVD, ASL, Smart Boards, Camera, Podcast, Vodcast, Voicethread, Text-to-speech, scanning, eletronic documents • Non-technologically based strategies and methods • Graphic texts • Socratic dialogue in reciprocal teaching – promotes thinking • Inquiry-driven instruction –promotes thinking
