  2. Cause: • Giant folds of tissue grown in the wall of the stomach • Tissue may be inflamed and may contain ulcers. • May also cause glands in the stomach to waste away and cause the body to lose fluid containing a protein called albumin • Cause is unknown.

  3. Risk: • Increases risk of stomach cancer. • It’s a rare and chronic disease. • Men between the ages of 30-60 are more prone to get Menetrier’s disease.

  4. Symptoms: • Pain or discomfort • Tenderness in the top middle part of the abdomen • Loss of appetite • Nausea • Vomiting • Diarrhea • Vomiting blood • Swelling in the abdomen • Ulcers

  5. Tests: • X-rays • Endoscopy • Biopsy of stomach tissue

  6. Treatment: • Medications to relieve ulcer symptoms and treat inflammation and high-protein diet • Part or all the stomach may need to be removed if the disease is severe

  7. Prognosis: • This disease is unknown and they assume at this time that the disease is genetic • You will live with chronic pain the rest of your life

  8. Complications: • The only complications from this disease would be side effects from the medications given to you.

  9. Preventions: • There are no preventions at this time because it is an newly found disease • Only way to find this disease is from getting tests
