NN/LM Accomplishments • Service Continuity: Identified, described and provided training for developing plans for network members to be able to continue their essential services, i.e. access to knowledge-based and disaster-related health information to support health care, during an emergency or disaster, whether local or regional in nature. • 1-800-DEV-ROKS: Developed a communication structure and a common toll-free telephone number for use by network members, Regional Medical Libraries, and NLM in order to facilitate communication before, during and after an emergency or disaster. • NN/LM Emergency Preparedness & Response Toolkit: Developed and implemented an online toolkit to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, experience, and training and planning materials in order to enhance the development of regional and local emergency preparedness plans and expertise throughout the NN/LM. • Regional RML Training: Provided training to Regional Medical Library staff and their guests in each region of NN/LM, facilitated goal-setting within the regions for implementing the national plan, and established the Principal Investigator as the ongoing Coordinator for the NN/LM Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan.

Role of the Committee • Assist the SE/A with developing and implementing a regional emergency preparedness plan to ensure continuity of service for Network members. • Serveas coordinators for emergency preparedness activities in the state: Promote emergency preparedness in individual libraries and the state. • When necessary, work as part of the regional emergency team to ensure continuation of services and recovery to affected Network members(s) in the state. • Provide the SE/A office with follow-up and reporting of events following a disaster to include a description of the incident, the response, follow-up activities, and lessons learned. • Recommend improvements and new avenues for the SE/A to promote and delivery emergency preparedness/disaster recovery support to Network members.
