Getting Started • Purpose of Video • Know your audience • Additional equipment (webcam, microphone) • Planning • Prepare your script by going through the steps of the topic you are going to record • Be prepared with a script for audio narrations. • Before you record, do a dry run. • Instead of making one long video, make short video clips by topic. • For PowerPoint presentations, it is recommended to record in Normal View and select slide region.

  9. QuickTime (MAC) • Easy to Use • Already installed on Mac • Records entire screen • Cannot pause during recording • No Screen Annotations • Video Format: mov

Best Practices • Close all programs that will not be in the recording (especially email). • Use compression options when available. • Be prepared wi`th a script for audio narrations. • Practice before you record. • Instead of making one long video, make short video clips by topic. • For PowerPoint presentations, it is recommended to record in Normal View and select slide region. • Preview your final video and have someone else view it as well.
