  2. Sergeant York 1941 - Directed by Howard Hawks Starring Gary Cooper as a backwoods conscientious objector pacifist from Tennessee. Gary Cooper won the Best Actor Academy Award for his role. Film was a biography of the most decorated and famous American War hero of WWI, Sergeant Alvin C. York.

Lee Thompson - 1961 • WWII action-adventure • A British team is sent to cross occupied Greek territory and destroy the massive German gun emplacement that commands a key sea channel • Starring Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, and David Niven • Nominated to 7 oscars, won for Best Effects
