  1. Activity 1 • Break into four groups; • Have a look at the text of the Guidelines, with particular emphasis on Chapter III and IV; • Discuss in your group whether NTT Group companies are in compliance with the Guidelines; • After 45 minutes, reporters of the group will report back in the plenary.

  2. Activity 2 • Break into four groups; • Two groups could imagine that a Japanese telecommunications company is threatening to move their customer service operation centers to Korea in order to influence ongoing collective bargaining negotiations with the union. What will the union do? If it decides to raise the problem as a case with the NCP of Japan, how will it proceed? Which paragraph of the Guidelines is relevant to this case? • The two other groups could imagine that they would be contacted by a union of PLDT (Philippines Long Distance Telephone Company) that have a problem with the management of the company (NTT has 15% of the shares of PLDT). The company refuses to let the workers form a trade union at the customer service centers in the Philippines. The workers therefore want to raise a case with the NCP of Japan. What will the NWJ do? How can it help the workers in the Philippines? Which paragraph of the Guidelines is relevant to this case?
