WHAT IS A LEARNING COMMUNITY? • Two or more courses that are taught together (i.e. Literature with History) by instructors from each area to create a clear connection • Students interacting with other students and teachers as part of a closely-knit, supportive community of learners • Students experiencing a variety of learning modes such as large and small group discussions, learning through activities and projects, and participating in field trips & hearing lectures.

  4. HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUTLEARNING COMMUNITIES? Most students say “NO” Marketing media gets lost in the clutter Program visibility is limited Primarily serves those students enrolled in developmental courses Not considered a “fun” learning experience
