Data Provenance Tiger Team Mission and Charter Tiger Team Mission and Charter To help achieve Data Provenance Initiative goals, the ONC Data Provenance Tiger Team will: • Accelerate the progress of the Initiative by getting a head start on standards harmonization. • Support the development of policy agnostic yet policy enablingtechnical standards that address prioritized initiative use case requirements.

  6. Data Provenance Tiger Team Scope • Focus on the initial set of standards required for Meaningful Use, and develop provenance-specific guidance and/or technical specifications for the initiative to use as building blocks in support of a more broadly applicable solution. • Assist the initiative with detailed analysis of candidate standards for system functional requirements and interoperable exchange of data as directed by the initiative. • Propose additional standards development activities to further initiative goals.

Tiger Team Initial Targets • Develop a content specification for all CDA IGs to enhance Data Provenance support • Building blocks for re-use • Backwards compatible • Transport is out of scope for TT, but we will monitor and inform the work as necessary • Assume a generic workflow, e.g., Transitions of Care to guide analysis • Document the value sets and vocabulary bindings to support provenance-related CDA data element as required by the initiative

Data Provenance Tiger TeamApproach Tactics • Propose development of HL7 “Provenance for Clinical Document Architecture (CDA R2) Documents Implementation Guide” • Analyze overlay with C-CDA (and other CDA-based) Templates • Assess risks and unintended consequences • Assess any modifications required to the XDS Document Entry Metadata

  9. Proposed CDA Development Approach • Review Provenance relevant classes, associations, and value sets at • Header Level • Section Level • StructuredBody • Adequacy of NonXML Body provenance at Header Level • Entry / Clinical Statement Level

Proposed CDA Development Approach • Develop Provenance Class as Entry Level Observations • Augment Entry Provenance per DPROV use case and HL7 EHR Lifespan, Lifecycle, and RM-ES functional requirements • Consider adapting Provenance Class patterns from • FHIR Provenance Resource • Order Response EventControlAct • FHIM Provenance Class • DS4P CDA Provenance Constraints

Data Provenance Tiger TeamProject Scope Statement Approval Process The proposed CDA IG is following the HL7 process: • Project Scope Statement [PSS] must be approved by the HL7 US Realm Task Force for appropriateness of WG sponsor, scope, deliverables and timelines, etc. • Once approved by HL7 US Realm Task Force, PSS is reviewed and approved by the following: • Sponsoring WG (CBCC) and Co-Sponsoring WGs (Security) • These WGs have indicated their support and PSS review is on their call agendas for April 29 • Domain Experts Steering Division during the May 6th Steering Division meeting at HL7 WGM • TSC call in mid-May
