  2. AES Exemption Statement • Proper Exemption Reporting can keep your shipments from being delayed • Clear and Complete on “the first page of the BOL, AWB or Other Loading Documentation for carrier use, or the Carrier Outbound Manifest” • FTSR #168 and #168 Appendix 1 on the WEB

  3. AES Exemption Statement • No difference between Option 2 and Option 3 Exemptions • NDR AES Filer ID - Shipment Reference # Example: NDR AES 222256789 - HOU12345 • Option 4 - Get the Exporter ID Right!!! • NDR AES4 Exporter ID - Filer ID Example: NDR AES4 22081853600 - 222256789

  4. Foreign Entity as Exporter • When the Foreign Entity is in the U.S. at the time of Export • Passport, VISA or Border Crossing Number • Do not use the Foreign Entity ID if the EIN, SSN or DUNS is known

  5. Port of Exportation • Ports reported in AES must match against the Port of Exportation (Schedule D) • Only Ports valid for Export can be Reported • Port of Exportation must be valid for certain Methods of Transportation • Ports of Exportation (Schedule D) on the WEB

  8. HS/Schedule B Classifications • Download the current Classification Schedules from the WEB • Remove HTS Numbers Invalid for Export • 168 total • Perch • Seeds • Codes 0000000001 - 0000000009 can only be used for American Goods Returned from Puerto Rico

Responding to Census Error Messages • DO NOT Disregard but VERIFY and take corrective action • Census parameters can be changed • Significant amounts of Census Errors under one HS/B Number must be reported to your Census Representative • Provide Filer ID, Shipment and Line Number, HS/B Number, description and an Invoice

  11. AES Software Evaluation • Census/Customs define AES certification requirements to all AES participants • Census/Customs provide mandatory edits to AES participants • AES participants retest if problems are determined with AES software
