  3. Chance Taker: The Project The Aim of the Project • HSOG have recognised: • That over 90% of incidents are caused by behavioural issues. • Speed & greed culture still exists within industry • Tools to manage behaviour are limited across industry

Chance Taker: The Project The Project • Publicise the issue across industry • Combine film with inductions / training & workshop sessions. • Video addressing risk taking behaviour – why do people take risks • Address Speed / greed mentality • Get buy in from workforce at all levels to take forward and improve the culture amongst industry • Promote HSOG

  5. Chance Taker: Understanding Behaviour Risk Taking Behaviour • We live with risk everyday • Risk in everything we do • We’re taught at a young age about risk. Balancing Risk? • Taking and managing risk is key to being successful • Balancing costs / gain • Understanding consequences are key.

Chance Taker: Risk Taking Behaviour Quiz Scores on the doors How risky are you? 10- 16 Low risk taker – Playing it Safe is good in many ways but often if you spend too much worrying about things they often pass you by. Just think about some of the great achievements of mankind, would these have ever been achieved if we didn’t take some risks? 17-21 Medium risk taker - You know how to balance risk with reward. This is exactly where you want to be. People in this category are often very happy and successful. 22 - 30 High risk taker - You like to push the envelope. That may often be great in the short term, but be careful as this often ends up worse longer term. Scale it back……risk is not its own reward
