    2. JOBSITE THEFT Copper theft is increasing Last Week Copper was trading on the New York Commodities Exchange at $3.50 per pound; compared to $1.93 in 2005 US MINT estimates it will cost $1.23 to make a penny Scrap Metal centers are reluctant to ask sellers where Copper came from

    3. JOBSITE THEFT One air conditioner may contain $50-$100 in copper. The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries sends e mail alerts to members regarding thefts reported by its members and law enforcement. Montgomery, Mobile and Birmingham require scrap metal dealers to record drivers license, vehicle and tag # from sellers Montgomery requires a Daily Report be sent to police.

JOBSITE THEFT PREVENTION Minimize time building materials are left unattended Plan to have materials and appliances delivered installed on the same day or as soon as possible If this is not possible, lock them in a secure place Have the “High End” appliances installed as soon as possible Mark items so as to identify them as yours

    5. JOBSITE THEFT PREVENTION Clearly display lot # and builder and after hours contacts Have sufficient lighting at night Inform local law enforcement about construction and provide emergency contact info Develop and Inventory sheet for equipment and materials at a jobsite and conduct periodic inventories during construction

    6. JOBSITE THEFT PREVENTION Report all theft, regardless of value. Cover any lumber on site with plastic and bind it and store out of the way If possible, put up fencing and gates that can be locked

    7. JOBSITE THEFT PREVENTION Encourage area residents to report jobsite theft Encourage employees to report suspicious activity; assuring them it will be confidential SEE SOMETHING, HEAR SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING Share INFORMATION with fellow builders and within your own company Keep the Jobsite organized and tidy If it’s ONSITE, make sure it’s INSIGHT or SAFE!

    8. JOBSITE THEFT PREVENTION You may want to invest in an onsite secure storage unit; Motion Detectors (The type shown here will dial up to SIX phone numbers when there is an intrusion) and allow your voice to be broadcast through its speaker
