  3. Site selection process 1. Homes provide injury data. • Homes having the highest injury rate are selected. - Letters are sent. - Inspectors are sent.

  4. Site selection All homes reporting more than 14 injuries/100 will be inspected.

  5. Site selection Any home reporting more than 8 injuries/100 may be inspected. ( National average for all workplaces is 3.1 )

  14. Resident handling Because - 52 % of injuries are related to resident handling. ( Costing about 1 billion / year ) - Nursing homes should have a program.

  15. Resident handling program • Determine the type of lifting necessary. 2. Determine how the lifts will be done. 3. Provide equipment. 4. Evaluate the residents. - Stay up to date
