  1. CJK activities on WPT Standardization Mr. YJ CHUNG (TTA)on behalf of CJK-WPT WG* *The CJK (China-Japan-Korea) WPT (Wireless Power Transmission/Transfer) WG consists of members of CCSA, ARIB, TTAandTTC.

  2. Highlight of Current Activities(1/3) • The WPT Special Interest Group (SIG) under the CJK IMT WG started sharing information on WPT since June 2012. • The SIG became CJK WPT WG through approval of CJK plenary meeting held in 11th April, 2013. • The main task of CJK WPT WG are followings: • Studies & Surveys towards CJK Report • To study on low power and high power WPT • To study assessment methods/procedures for human exposure to RF from WPT • Collaboration toward AWG, ITU-R, GSC, etc • To discuss the further direction to global discussion outside and build consensus among CJK as a focal collaboration and target CJK joint contributions

  3. Highlight of Current Activities(2/3) • Outcomes of CJK WPT WG • “Wireless Power Transfer/Transmission (WPT) Technical Report 1” • Original edition (March 2013) • “Wireless Power Transfer/Transmission (WPT) Technical Report 1 Abridged Version” • introduced at AWG-14 (AWG-14-INP-23Rev.1, March 18, 2013) • Description includes: • Latest status and trend of WPT technologies in China, Japan, and Korea. • Global status and trend • Various WPT technologies, expected and found today, from low power portable device applications such as cellular phones to high power applications such as Electric Vehicle • Information and survey results on market demand, applications, technical profiles, standardization, spectrum, and regulation

  4. Highlight of Current Activities(3/3) • Executive Summary on CJK WPT TR 1 • WPT is novel in application, technology, and regulation. It provides freedom from power cables while charging; and it is expected to produce additional value to the products and applications. Various types of WPT products and applications are in consideration in multiple industries. Demand is substantially increasing globally. • Global harmonization in standardization and regulation should be achieved to the maximum extent possible. Spectrum should be harmonized so that technology can be harmonized through global and regional standardization process. Regulatory harmonization is also a key because regulators can adopt same WPT regulation among the countries so that a WPT product can be used in those countries without modification. • Attachment: CJK WPT TR1 (Abridged and Original Edition)
