At the end of the story use the information you have gathered to complete the story summary on the back of your sheet. Make sure you are listing as many items as you can for each category on the worksheet. When finished go back and reread this week’s selection in order to improve reading fluency.

When you're finished begin thinking about the following questions. 1. Who is the main character in the story? 3. How are the characters lives changed by moving to the new place 4. Have you ever felt like the main character did in the story when they moved to a new place? 2. Where do the characters go in the story?

  28. Extreme Partner Reading First Step: Read the story summary quietly to yourself. If you finish before time is up, read through it again. Second Step: Now that you have read through the story summary, go through it again using hand gestures as you read. If you finish before time is up, read through it again with gestures. Third Step: Turn to your partner and take turns reading the summary with lots of expression. Fourth Step: With your partner, take turns reading with passage with lots of expression and gestures. Last Step: Using your best expression, ask your partner three questions about what you have read. When you are asked, be sure to answer with intense expressions.

When you are finished discuss these questions with your partner and write your answers in complete sentences on a piece of lined paper.. 1. All of these articles are about the Kids Voting program. Why don’t they all share the same heading? 3. The Article on page 274 has a headline and a subhead. Suppose only the headline was used. How would it change things? What if only the subheading? 4. Why do you think these articles were chosen to accompany A Very Important Day ? Were they a good choice? Explain your answer. 2. In which article does the author express his or her own viewpoint most clearly? What is the author’s viewpoint?
