  3. Thrivent Builds Homes Goals • Build 10 additional homes in this Thrivent Financial region, including one home on the Peninsula • Increase Habitat for Humanity’s capacity to serve locally • Involve Thrivent Financial members and other Lutherans in community-based caring activities

  13. Partner families • Originally from Rhode Island, Amy Dudley has lived in Hampton, VA since 2003. She is the proud parent of Merissa (10), Elias (6) and baby Obadiah. The Dudley family enjoys trips to the park and bike rides together. Amy is a Certified Dental Assistant and works at Solar Orthodontic Laboratory.

Partner Families Partner family eligibility requirements • Demonstrate need and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial • Invest at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” labor into their houses • The ability to make monthly no-profit mortgage payments that support construction of more homes • Make monthly payments on a 30-year mortgage • Goes back to the affiliate to make more homes possible in the future

  15. What can you do? • Pray for the project • Raise funds • Mobilize volunteers

Raise Funds • It will cost $105,600to build this home. • Thrivent Financial will provide $68,640 or 65% of the funding • The local Habitat affiliate will provide $26,400 or 25% of the funding • We will raise the remaining $10,560 or 10% of the funding • Half committed one month before volunteers on site (it’s urgent)

  20. What Can You Do? Mobilize volunteers • Variety of tasks • Many dates available—something for every schedule • Subject to weather and other uncertainties • Hundreds of volunteers needed • No experience required • Minimum age is 18 • Maximum 10 volunteers on site

What can I do, besides swinging a hammer? • As a congregational champion, we’re counting on you to “champion” the cause at your congregation • Encourage fundraising and volunteerism • Volunteers are needed to • Be site hosts • Serve lunches • Pray for the project • Join a planning committee or help with behind-the-scenes needs • Take pictures
