Benefits of Measuring Scope 3 Supply Chain Emissions

All of the solutions are also linked together so that they can automatically share data about supply chain emissions. The data from these wizards is automatically added to the reporting organization's overall scope 1, 2, and 3 footprints, which are used for management, setting goals, and tracking performance.

https://www.edocr.com/v/by9j10db/suatainabl/benefits-of-measuring-scope-3-supply-chain-emissio

 1. BENEFITS OF MEASURING SCOPE 3 SUPPLY CHAIN EMISSIONS

 2. WHAT DOES "SCOPE 3 EMISSIONS" MEAN? Scope 3 emissions are indirect greenhouse gas emissions other than scope 2 emissions that are generated in the wider economy. They occur as a consequence of the activities of a facility, but from sources not owned or controlled by that facility's business.

 3. BENEFITS OF MEASURING SCOPE 3 EMISSIONS? The GHG Protocol, which is why it is harder for organizations to focus on it, defines scope 3 emissions very broadly: all indirect emissions that are not in scope 2 that happen in the value chain of the reporting company, both upstream and downstream. No matter how broad this definition is, companies must start putting Scope 3 emissions at the top of their list. When it comes to Scope 3, measuring has a lot of good things going for it.

 4. HOW CAN YOUR ORGANIZATION START MEASURING? To fix this, business leaders need to focus on global supply chain emissions networks, where climate change's biggest risks and opportunities are found. No matter how broad this definition is, companies must start putting Scope 3 emissions at the top of their list. When it comes to Scope 3, measuring has a lot of good things going for it.

 5. BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES OF THE DIFFERENT APPROACHES Important to know which sources of scope 3 emissions are important and, therefore, offer ways to cut them. Getting information directly from suppliers could lead to more accurate data, and it ensures that suppliers can learn about and participate in calculating emissions. It also gives the reporting organization a way to help the supplier organization with its environmental reporting and to work together to reduce supply chain emissions related to their business relationship and beyond.
