  3. Polytheism & Monotheism Polytheism Monotheism Belief in one true deity (e.g.. Judaism, Christianity, Islam) Deity = god • Belief in many gods/goddesses (e.g. Hindu, Shinto, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Aztecs, etc) • All not always worshipped equally

  4. How did religion develop in history? • Early civilizations were polytheistic – especially gods involved with nature • As civilizations became more complex, new questions and concerns emerged  Major belief systems/religions
