  2. Laminateanalysis, planning and optimization (1) • Any real laminate is imperfect for manyreasons. Considermaking a test laminate with 14 layers of 430g/m^2 glasfiber and load the piece in 3 point bending. Extract E modulus and, maximum strain and (yield) breakingstrengthconservetively. • UseExemple 1 on Sandwiththeoryhandbook(page 32) and recalculatehow a sandwich beam with 1 layer of glas fiber shouldbehaveifcore material is PET P150 (diab) and resin is ATLAC AC580. The snadwichbeam is center loaded and dimensions are 10 mm foamthickness. Skin thickness is to be measured. • Beamwidth and length is to be measured.

  3. Laminateanalysis, planning and optimization (2) • Analysewhat force wouldhave broken the same beamif a) the foamwouldhavebeen AIREX C52.60 or b) Diab PVC H100 or c) Corecell A80 with thickness 9,5mm • Studyif the sandwich is limeddue to shear in the core or skinn of the laminate.
