Poetry Terminology. Rhythm - the natural beat or movement you feel as you read a poem.Rhyme - a repetition of sounds at the end of lines of verses.Stanza - a group of lines into which a poem may be divided.Refrain - a phrase, line or group of lines repeated at various times in a poem.. CINQUAIN.

    3. CINQUAIN Cinquain poems are five lines in length with certain unrhymed specifications. Line 1: title 1 word Line 2: description of title 2 words Line 3: action of the title 3 words Line 4: feeling about title 4 words Line 5: synonym of title 1 word

    7. LIMERICKS The limerick poem takes its name from Limerick, Ireland. The limerick is a humorous, nonsense verse of 5 lines. Lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme Lines 3 and 4 rhyme

    11. ACROSTICS An acrostic poem differs from other poetry in that the first letter of each lines spells a word which can be read vertically. The rhyme pattern, number of words, and lines vary in acrostic poems. ALPHABET and NAME POETRY are other styles of acrostic poems.
