By now – August 2016 • Pupils considering applying to university should have researched courses and institutions. • Know what the entry requirements are for their selected courses. • Have attended UCAS workshops with Mrs Mayes. • Have carried out work experience or voluntary work linked to their chosen field.

  3. What next? • Higher Education Exhibition, UWS Ayr, Tuesday 30th August. 57 places – first come, first served. Pupils have been given information. • UCAS conference 9th September , Greenwood Conference Centre, 14 places available. Sign up with Mrs Mayes, priority given to Education, Engineering and Nursing. • Sign up to appointments with Mrs Mayes 31st Aug, 1st & 2nd Sept. Appointment sheets will be pinned to her classroom door – BG11. This is to register for the Apply system. • Investigate open days at chosen universities and where recommended sign up online. Pupils should be attending these in their own time and with a parent/carer for support. • Issue reference slips to class teachers by 21st October.

  4. What next? 5. Arrange a meeting with Pastoral Support Teacher in week beginning 12th September with form completed – except for Personal Statement section, this should only be a first draft. 6. Re-draft of personal statements should be ready for week beginning 26th September. A hard copy of the statement should be available for discussion with Pastoral Support Teacher. 7. Forms and personal statements should be completed by 21st October. 8. Interviews with HT will now start to check over forms, statements and references. No forms should be submitted before this interview.

  5. What next? 9. All forms and references should be ready to send by Thursday 15th December.

Medicine, Vet Medicine and Dentistry Sign up on Apply system by 2nd September with Mrs Mayes Reference forms out to teachers by 2nd September Hard copy of form and personal statement to Pastoral Support Teacher by 16th September (allows time for review and amendments ) Form and Statement completed by Monday 26th - approved by Pastoral Support Teacher Arrange interview with Miss Chalmers SCHOOL DEADLINE 7th October 2016
