  1. Welcome Back 2013-2014

  2. Teacher Biography: • I was raised in the Coachella Valley since the age of six and completed my entire education career here. I have currently completed a duel Masters in Teaching with a emphasis in Special Education. • I have earned a certificate in Teaching Students with Autism. • Other than teaching I enjoy reading, singing, and spending time with my family.

  3. Teacher Commitment:

  4. Dear Parents/Guardians • It is my sincere pleasure to be your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year. The School Rules focus on three major concepts: 1) Courtesy 2) Safety, and 3) Responsibility. As a school and as individuals we practice these skills daily. Vista del Monte provides a California State Requirement Academic Program based upon the California State Standards. It is our commitment to ensure that all students are actively engaged in the process of learning while providing them with a safe and structured environment in which to learn and develop. Although your child has an IEP it is our goal to integrate them within their individual grade levels to build and nurture relationships with their peers outside the classroom.

  5. Classroom Rules: • Raise your hand • Be a friend • Listen • Share • Help others

  6. Visitor Policy: We welcome parents and family members to visit our classroom. Communication is the key to success and we invite you to join us for activities and field trips, as long as these are not disruptive to the productivity of your child and others. I am generally available throughout the day, if not, phone calls will be returned by the end of the school business day.

  7. Birthdays and other Celebrations: • Parents are welcome to bring nutritional items for birthdays and other celebrations, holidays, etc. • Our district encourages nutrition and wellness and mandates that any food brought into the classroom be purchased from the store. • If you would like to contribute to snacks for our students please remember to think nutritious.

  8. Synergy Parent Connect: • Parents are able to access school and classroom news information by logging onto the Palm Springs Unified School District website @www.psusd.us. • You will need to speak with office staff at VDM to pick up the paper work needed.

  9. Personal Items/Toys: • The classroom teacher provides all necessary materials for students (i.e. educational games etc.) and we ask that students refrain from bringing any personal items such as toys, electronics, etc. to school to ensure their security. • If items are brought they will be taken by the teacher to be sent home at the end of the day. If this becomes a repeating occurrence parents will be asked to come pick items up to ensure that parents and teacher are supporting each other to ensure that students develop a strong sense of responsibility.
