  1. Cephalochordata lancelets (habitat/ Adaptation) • Lancelets live in sandy bottoms • They live in shallow seawater. • They live in protected coastal beaches.

  2. Urochordata tunicates (habitat) • You can find them deep in the water.

  3. Facts ! • Lancelets use cilia to draw water into their pharynx through there mouth. • Lancelets swim weakly. • Food particles in the water are trapped as the water passes through the numerous slits in the pharynx.

  4. Facts (tunicates) • There bodies are covered by a tough covering or tunic. • Tunicates squirt out a stream of water when touched. • Tunicates are adapted for filter feeding. • Food is filtered by the pharynx moves into the stomach.

  5. Chordata Characteristics • They have bilateral symmetry • Chordate have segmented bodies which included segmented muscles • Chordata have a well-developed coelem • They have a hollow never cord that usually ends with a brain • Chordata have a post anal tail at some point in there life • They have an endoskeleton made out of either bone or cartilage

  6. Vocabulary • Atriopore- when the food enters the intestine to be digested while the water leaves the body • Cephalochordata- a chordate subphylum defined by the presence of a notochord that persists throughout life. It is represented in the modern oceans by the lancelets. Fossil species are also known from the Chengjiang biota. • Urochordata- are members of the subphylum Tunicata or Urochordata, a group of underwater saclike filter feeders with incurrent and excurrent siphons that is classified within the phylum Chordata.

  7. Branchiostoma Belcheri Lancelets Kingdom: Animalia Phylum Chordata Class : Cephalochordata Family : Branchiostoma Species: Branchiostoma belcheri

  8. Botrylloides Tunicate Kingdom:anamalia Phylum:chordata Class:ascidiacea Order:stolidobranchia Family:styelidae Genus:botrylloides

  9. Epigonichthys Cultellus kingdom:anamalia phylum:chordata class:cephalochordat a family:asymmetronidae species:epigonichthys cultellus.
