  3. Why do we teach it? Preparing for life – not just for exams. • The National Curriculum in England KS3 and 4 framework document published September 2013 says: • 2.1Every state-funded school must offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly basedand which: promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and • prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. • 2.3All state schools are also required to make provision for a daily act of collective worship and must teach religious education to pupils at every key stage and sex and relationship education to pupils in secondary education. • 2.5 All schools should make provision for personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE)

  4. How do we teach it at Walton? Wednesday 23RD October – AM x 4 Thursday 28th November – PM x 2 Tuesday 28th January – AM x 4 Wednesday 12th March - AM x 2 Friday 23rd May – AM x 4 Monday 23rd June AM x 4 Monday 14th July AM x 2

  5. What are your children going to learn and experience? Year 7 – ON CAMP Year 8 – Staffs University Research Year 9 – Crime and Punishment. Y.O.T presentation Year 10 – Reforming the Criminal Justice System Apprentice style competition Year 11 – ‘managing stress’ and revision techniques. Workshops – Yoga, CV’s, mock interviews, careers in the MOD etc… Year 12 – Industry Day – Youth Centre Year 13 – UCAS PDS 1 – 23rd October 2013

  6. How can you get involved? Work experience and careers. Are you able to come in and share your expertise? Talk to your children at home about PSHE issues…
