  2. Objective Students will be able to convert units of length, weight, and capacity: inches or feet to yards, ounces to pounds, and cups to pints, pints to quarts, quarts to gallons.

  3. Need to Know Just like fractions, measurement has equivalents. You may have to multiply or divide when finding measurement equivalents.

  4. 12 in. = 1 ft.

  5. How many inches in more than one foot? Multiply by 12 (or use repeated addition). How many inches in 4 feet? 12 X4 48 48 inches

  6. How many inches in 5 feet? 60 inches How many inches in 7 feet? 84 inches How many inches in 10 feet? 120 inches

  7. 36 in. = 1 yd. 3 ft. = 1 yd.

  8. How many inches in more than one yard? Multiply by 36 (or use repeated addition). How many inches in 3 yards? 1 36 X3 108 108 inches
