  3. NWL LAG area consist of: • Laižuva neighborhood • Viekšniai neighborhood • Seda neighborhood • Židikai neighborhood • Reivyčiai neighborhood • Šerkšnėnai neighborhood • Tirkšliai neighborhood • Mažeikiai neighborhood

  4. NWL LAG aims The aims of established LAGs in Lithuania are to develop local partnership between Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations in LAG localities seeking to implement the principles of cohesive rural development.

  5. Brief facts about NWL LAG • Founded on 10.09.2004 • Inhabitants in the area approximately 24 759 • NWL LAG consists of 16 members of whom 10 are board members • On 2006-2008 NWL LAG implemented pilot integrated strategy and reclaimed 508 817 Lt. • Now LAG is implementing Local Development Strategy for year 2008-2014 and has to reclaim 9 110 000 Lt

YEAR 2006-2008 The Northwest Lithuania Local Action Group(NWLLAG) operatingin the Mažeikiai district implemented the strategy “Rural Locality Studyand Preparation of the Integrated Pilot Study, Seeking for the Life QualityImprovement in the Rural Residential Locality of the Mažeikiai District.” Thestrategy has been prepared in accordance with the questionnaire results of thedistrict residents.

  7. YEAR 2006-2008 • During the first stage of application submission,15 applications were received, of which 8 were granted financing. • Within the second call for applications, the NWL LAG received 22 applications. Funding was granted to 21 projects. • After the third call, two more projects were funded. • In total, 31 projects were implemented.

  12. The support was used for putting to order • the community and culture house, • the public bath-house of the Viekšniai eldership was repaired, • in Seda the premises of the former pharmacy was adapted for the community centre, • the community trainings and various events were organized.

  13. Priorities of the strategy of local development for 2008-2014 • 1st Priority. Diversification of rural businesses and encouragement of competitive ability • 2nd Priority. Public buildings‘ renovation and their use for the development of sociality and reduction of social isolation • 3rd Priority. Harmonious development of public infrastructure and it use for the improvement of conditions of life • 4th Priority. Preservation of cultural heritage, improvement of recreational occupation, cultural life and people security

NWL LAG LEARNING PROJECT • Support for implementing local development strategies to teach people: • Potential applicants • NWL LAG administration and members • Funding – 300 000 Lt • Organizing teaching and consulting how to prepare correctly: application; procurement public p.; documentation and other actual themes.

  15. Transnational cooperation • LAG Steinfurter Land (Germany), • LAG „Developement Association of Saldus District“ (Latvia), • West Cork LAG (Ireland), • Tartu Rural Developement Assosiation (Estonia).
