Goals • Provide opportunities for ME students to study, research, or work around the world • Professional and personal growth • Friendship and awesome experience • Competitive advantage in job market and career • Low to no impact • Cost neutral (compared with studying at WL campus) • No impact to plan of study and time to graduation • No impact to Purdue GPA and financial aide • Travel with your classmates and friends • Fit into co-op and internship programs • Opportunity for developing international internship

  3. Office of Professional Practice GEARE • Comprehensive • Language, orientation, domestic and international internships, semester study abroad, one year global team design project • Locations: China, Germany, India, and Mexico • Global Engineering Study (GES) minor • 3.0 GPA + 12 credit hours of host language • Apply (OPP) in 2nd semester and travel in 6th semester • Complete team design project in 7th or 8th semester

G-PAL • Summer international internship with your international student friends • Learn engineering practiced around the world while experience the cultural and people in the host country • Need to be minimally fluent in the foreign language of host country (depending on employment offer) • Apply in spring semester for summer or fall internship (OPP)

  5. Engineering Term Abroad (ETA) • Semester study abroad • Minimal impact to plan of study and graduation time • No impact to Purdue GPA – credit transfer • Cost neutral – compared with on-campus room & board • In good academic standing • Bring your friends – ideally 5-10 students per location • Location: China (now), Singapore (2011), Turkey (2011), Australia (near future), England (near future)… • Application: ME and Study Abroad

  6. Summer Engineering Internship • Engineering Internships in Hannover and Clausthal • No language requirement for work, some German will be helpful • Junior standing with 3.0 GPA • Apply: Study Abroad

  7. Singapore • Nanyang Technological University • National University of Singapore

  8. Turkey • BoğaziçiUniversity, Istanbul, Turkey • Founded by two Americans in 1860s as Roberts College • Courses taught in English
