  1. The Fundamentals if AMA Citation Style The AMA citation style was developed by the American Medical Association in 1962. The current edition of the manual (11thedition) came out in 2020. This style of citation follows a documentary-note format. It means you need to put a number in the text to cite the sources of the information. The reference list is arranged in the numerical order in this style. This form of citation style is used by the department of health professionals. However, it is also used by the students in the fields of liberal arts and humanities. If you don’t have any idea about the guidelines of this citation style, it is better to use an AMA citation machine for assistance. Or, you can refer to the blog for necessary details.  In-text citations: Similar to some of the major citation styles, AMA citation guidelines ask you to use superscript numbers in the text. Moreover, you need to adhere to these additional guidelines:  The citations are arranged numerically in the order of their appearance in the text.  Arabic superscript numbers are placed after the full-stops and commas but inside the colons and semi-colons.  When you are citing 2 or more references, use hyphens to join the first and last numbers. You need to use commas without space to separate other parts of multiple citations. Here's an example:1-6,7 If these details seem difficult to remember, you can use the help of AMA citation generator to create the citations in AMA format.  Author names: While you mention the names of the authors in the bibliography, you need to adhere to the following guidelines.  Start with the author's surname following by his/her initials, e.g. Brown LK.

  2.  Separate the names of 2 or more authors with a comma, e.g. Smith MN, Gough RM.  While writing the entries in the bibliography, you can include up to 6 authors for one source. In case there are more than 6 authors for a source, just mention the name of first 3 authors and write “et al.” after that. If you are using an AMA citation maker, generating the referencing details with properly formatted author names will not be a problem.  Title of the source: The title of the entire reference source (book or journal) needs to be in title case (the first letter of each word in uppercase) and in italics. However, if the source is a website or some unpublished material, the aforementioned rules do not apply. With an AMA citation generator, you can avail assistance on such tasks. If you are writing the referencing entry of a part of the source, such as a book chapter, a journal article, or a web object, you need to put the title in sentence case and not in italics. When you are mentioning a digital source, use the DOI (if there’s any). Otherwise, simply use the URL. With these pieces of information on AMA citation and referencing, you can certainly try to prepare your own paper. However, if you don’t feel confident, you can always avail the assistance of the online tools or a professional expert.
