  2. Importance: In order to repair a leak, central heating system must regularly be drained. It is important to consider that regular maintenance of your central heating system is required for it to last as long as possible. Your central heating system's performance depends on proper maintenance and, it should be drained and cleaned on a regular basis.

  3. Followthesesteps: First switch off the boiler. Put out the solid fuel fire if there is one. Shut off the water supply. Locate the drain off valve and attach a hosepipe. Start bleeding your radiators. Open the drain valve and discharge the water. Refill your central heating system.

  4. Whyyoushoulddoit? Maintenance isn't the only excuse for the central heating to be turned off. Draining the central heating system to drain the build up sludge and limescale is also a smart idea. Not to mention the fact the some heating or boiler repairs can't be completed without shutting down the whole system.
