N20030: Foundations of Nursing Intervention • Competencies: Patient assessment, dressing changes, subcutaneous injections, wound vac, oral medication administration, and charting • Patient Teaching: pre-procedure teaching for colonoscopy, wound care, and smoking cessation • Evidence based practice:Sterile procedure, hand washing, and medication administration

  6. Junior Year • Goals: • Become comfortable with obtaining patient data and assessments • Develop a foundation of providing competent intravenous administration • Develop an understanding for newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric nursing care

N30010: Parent and Newborn Nursing • Competencies: Assessment of the post-partum mother, neonate, and NICU neonate, IM injections, heel stick (PKU test) • Patient Teaching: birth control (depo provera), breast feeding positions, discharge instructions, neonate formula options • Evidence Based Practice: medication administration, breast feeding

N30020: Health Care of Children • Competencies: spica cast care, neonate feedings, dressing changes, neuro checks, IM injection and staple removal • Patient Teaching: spica cast care to amish family, smoking cessation to parents of child with asthma, and post surgical procedures • Case study completed on pediatric asthma • Evidence Based Practice: Monitored lab values and applied nursing implications for specific mediations.
