Background • ‘No Secrets’ 2000 – No Secrets 2 awaited Autumn 2010 • 2005- clear standards for adult safeguarding work – including governance of safeguarding boards links to community safety partnership • - CQC inspections of adult safeguarding work • - guidance on links with clinical governance in health settings

  3. BSAB Priorities • Safeguarding Board has prioritised in 2009/10: • Communication and awareness making it clear that safeguarding is everyone’s business • Ensuring effective partnership work at strategic and operational level • Quality assurance of safeguarding casework

  4. Risk reduction • Publicity to raise awareness of safeguarding issues and encourage early reporting • Link to community safety initiatives to reduce domestic violence, financial scams and doorstep crime • Link to dignity agenda to reduce risks of abuse and neglect in health and social care settings • Ensuring risks are identified and managed as we move to develop supporting independence in Bromley

  5. Developments • Ensuring partners and service users develop adult safeguarding strategy 2011-14 • Making sure adult safeguarding is ‘everybody’s business’ • Concentration on reducing risks and better outcomes for service users – quality assurance
