  1. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • PV1 2 • PV2 - SysManager : in SQL Query panel, the possibility to save the extracted data; - In script language: Constant Definition; - Definition of DPs array, i.e. indexed DPs; PV3 CAEN Power Supply Analog/Digital devices FSM – Hierarchy • PV4 - drivers for the HV-LV crate control on Linux platform; - Drivers for the Siemens PLC control on LINUX platform • PV5 • …………………………….

  2. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • OPC1 OPC server for Caen device OPC server for SIEMENS PLC • OPC2 Both, we have used the OPC server with the Framwork and independently with a LabView control program. • OPC3 • Low Velocity of the OPC client in PVSS. Comparative test with different client and same server, provide better results. (For more details see http://alicedcs.web.cern.ch/AliceDCS/Workshop09.Mar04/HMPID_OPC.pdf )

  3. Answers to DCS questionsDetector:HMPID • FSM1 • The HMPID hierarchy in PVSS 2.12 is presently of a) type. In order to exploit the detector modularity the new DCS project in PVSS 3.03 (which designing is under way) will be b) type. • FSM2 YES • FSM3 yes • FSM4 • yes

  4. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • CO1 • For the new DCS version we PLAN use the OS XP or LINUX (version delivered at CERN) on a platform with bi-processor 2.5 GHz, 1 Gbyte RAM xxGbyte HD. • CO2 none • CO3 • Number of parameters: • -100 temperature parameters; • -80 pressure parameters; • -150 HV-LV Vmon • -        150 HV-LV Imon • About update frequencies we intent to adopt the following setup: • -OPC (or specific driver) refreshing rate at 250 ms; • -PVSS parameter smoothing on the time base of 1 min with a suitable (different) percentage of parameter variation. • According this setup the number of samples/day per parameter may vary from zero to 345.600 samples. It depends on: • -how many ramping up/down are carried out, • -the dP/dt and dT/dt; • -I_mon-Vmon fluctuations on the read-out cycle; • -......... • Number of simultaneous remote sessions: 3 (different experts for different subsystems)

  5. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • CO4 Not relevant data • CO5 In case of alarm, we would like to have the possibility to send automatically some e-mails or SMS messages to the expert. I think that in addition to the LXPLUS system an outgoing Internet channel could be useful.

  6. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • DB1 Please see CO3 and assume on the average 10 bytes per parameter sample (time stamp and parameter value) • DB2 • none

  7. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • FE1 • none • FE2 • none • FE3 • none • FE4 • The detector calibration is carried out via DDL, it only requires the DCS status= ready. The calibration trigger and FERO control signals are self generated by the detector electronics. The size of the calibration data is about 10 Mbyte. • The calibration procedure should take place at the beginning of each run (and not later than 24 hours from the latest). The detector calibration time is of the order of 30 s.

  8. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • RS1 • yes, at least : • -Gas Analyzer; • -C6F14 UV transparency; • -stepping motors controller.

  9. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • LV1 9 A (80 chs) and 25 A (20chs). • LV2 Yes • LV3 no

  10. Answers to DCS questionsDetector: HMPID • PL1 • P2 at beginning 2005. HV-LV physical parameters, LCS (gas and cooling under investigation) • PL2 • beginning 2005
