  2. Location • The Alpine Biome can only be found in places where they are above 10000 feet above sea level. • Coldest climate in the world. • Cover about 16% of the earths surface.

  3. Producers • Alpine Phacelia- Grow on rocky or open wooden places in the mountains. They are found on almost all the mountains in the world. • Pygmy Bitterroot- Only found in the mountains of western North America. • Wild Potato- Grown on the higher altitudes of the Andes Mountains. • Bear Grasss- Found on the lower levels of the Alpine Biome. • Polylepis Forest- only grow in areas above 4,500 meters above sea level.

  4. Consumers • Alpaca- Live in the Andes Mountain region. Live in areas that are 14,000 to 16,000 feet above sea level. • Andean Condor- Mainly found in South America. Can soar to altitudes of 18,000 feet • Chinchilla- Live in the Andes Mountain region. They mainly eat grasses and plants. • Llama- Live in the Andes Mountain region. Live in areas that are 7,400 to 12,800 feet above sea level.

  5. Consumers • Mountain Goat- Mainly found in the north west mountains of North America. • Snow Leopard- Lives in the Himalayan Mountain region. They are at the top of the food chain. • Vicuna- Live in the Andes mountain region. Live in the higher elevation pieces of the Alpine Biome. • Yak- Live in the Himalayan mountain region. Live in the most barren and harsh pieces of the Himalayan mountains.

  8. Concerns • Global Warming- will result in higher temperatures. • Ski Resort development- ski resorts have been destroying the habitat in the alpine biome. • Airbourne pollution- acid rain is damaging the fresh water sources in this area.
