  1. INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT „The familiarity with Maths” mgr Sylwia Jasiewicz – Maths teacher Zespół Szkół – Gimnazjum im. ks. dr. Stanisława Czartoryskiego Maków Podhalański ul. Wolności 53 Malopolska Poland Tel. 0-48-33-8773-890 e-mail: marsyl11@interia.pl

  2. Four dimensions of citizenship in the project Pupils’ description ofthe projects Pupils’ presentations

  3. In the classroom The pupils better understand their own needs, dreams and their attitude to life. They also better understand their own and the other people’s values of life. They are able to see the most important things to do in their lives. Each group worked under the direction of the teachers. The groups were getting information from other people e. g. the hygienist, the firemen, the parents, the citizens and from other pupils etc. Outside the classroom Each group worked under the direction of the teachers. The groups were getting information from other people e. g. the hygienist, the firemen, the parents, the citizens and from other pupils etc. Pedagogical dimension

  4. In the classroom Cooperation between groups was going well. There were pupils in each project who were more or less conspicuous and more or less involved in an action. Involvement of the whole class was the success of that project. The pupils were very active while getting information and materials connected with each presentation. The friendly atmosphere between the pupils in the classroom was very helpful in carrying the project out. It was very noticeable during the presentations. In that time each group had its own “Five minutes” to show the project. The listeners were very active, they were asking the questions all the time. They respected other classmates opinions. Outside the classroom Involvement of pupils, teachers and parents. They survey among pupils from the whole school. Social dimension

  5. In the classroom The sense of learning surroundings and leading the everyday life. Popularizing the healthy lifestyle and the knowledge of the monuments and also popularizing the new technology. The knowledge of the rights and duties while working in the groups. Using democratic values such as choosing ideas and the ways of presenting the projects. Outside the classroom Promotions of cultural heritage (symmetry in monuments). Presentations of history, discoveries and the people’s achievements (clocks, symmetries, buildings, energy). Political dimension

  6. In the classroom Learning the team – work rules, a sense of fair-play, honesty in obtaining information, scrupulous transferring the data and the knowledge. Accuracy of the prepared tasks (albums, posters, presentations) was also significant for the project. Honesty in presenting the information collected from other people. The tasks were always done on time. Outside the classroom Honesty in presenting the information collected from other people. The tasks were always done on time. Value / Ethical dimension

  7. Pupils’ description of the school projects made within the project ACTIVE The clocks The symmetry in our surrounding How to save energy? The bedroom of teenager’s dream

  8. „The clocks” • Our task was to do the multimedia presentation and to do the special clocks from different ages. • DIVIDING OF WORK • Our group of four persons was working for two months. The group had a lot of meetings in which the pupils were preparing the spatial clocks and the multimedia presentation. The work was divided between four pupils, each of them had to do a part of the final project. • The work was divided as fallows: the sand-glass, the multimedia presentation, the candle clock, the sun – dial • FINAL PRODUCTS • Our project called „The ways of measuring the time” taught us how to work in groups and how to organize work. While we were engaged upon the presentation we learnt a lot about the ways of measuring the time and also about the clocks. The information we collected was from the Internet, the teachers and the encyclopedic dictionaries.

  9. The symmetry in our surrounding Our group was given the task to present symmetry in our surrounding. We were supposed to gather everything what is connected with symmetry. We live in a society. The key to the success is then a good cooperation with other members of the society. How is it possible that we avoided any quarrels despite the differences between us? Maybe because we were flexible enough. It is impossible to focus on all the ideas which appear so we had to decide which were the most valuable. Good society is united despite the fact that it is created by people with different beliefs, thoughts and values. Cultural heritage (especially buildings) can be treated like a source of symmetry. At the beginning of our project we were not fully conscious of it. In our presentation we used a computer and much more traditional instruments and tools, like: paper, pencil, scissors and felt – pens. Economy is a word widely used nowadays but not everybody knows that its rules can really lead the world. We discovered with pleasure after adding all costs of the project that they are quite low. That is because we tried to use many things we brought from our houses. We also discovered that working can be really “profitable”, as our project scored highly and in fact got the first place.

  10. „How to save energy?” In our project we included a lot of information abort energy saving, energy saving measures, future sources of getting energy. We pointed out that in every house we can save energy by wise usage such facilities like TVset, computer, washing machine, fridge, iron or hair – drier. We presented the ways of planning a house and its conveniences taking into consideration energy saving lamps and their reasonable setting. We carried out the survey amongst the students about the devices at home which use the most and the least amount of energy. Fortunately, we weren’t alone as our teachers helped us a lot. Thanks to them we prepared an album and a slide show. We hope that our work and its results will be of some help in the future.

  11. The bedroom of teenager’s dream The topic was very pleasant to realise especially we created a very good and cooperative team. We even could manage without any help of our teachers. First, we carried out the survey about popular decorations, furniture and colours in students’ bedrooms. We were answered with full descriptions what helped us with getting important and very detailed information. Thanks to the survey we could to make a three – dimension model of the “ideal” teenager’s bedroom. Then we had the most difficult part of the work – we counted the cost of the project. Unfortunately, we are not very good at maths so it took us quite a long time. Finally, we put everything in a computer and we worked out parts of our project graphically.
