Beowulf Linux cluster • UvA • 126 AMD Athlon 700 MHz nodes • 42 AMD Athlon 1200 MHz nodes • disk: 8 Gbyte/node • network: 100 Mbit switched Ethernet between nodes, 1 Gbit Ethernet to the fileservers • 3 Intel dual CPU file servers • 200 GB IDE RAID per server • 9 AMD Athlon 1600XP+ 1400 MHz Testcluster • Gigabit Ethernet NE ROC meeting, Amsterdam, October 28, 2004

Cluster1600 configuration • One frame with 3 winterhawk nodes • 4 power3 CPUs per node (375 MHz) • 4 GB memory per node • Gigabit Ethernet • 6 p690 nodes • 4 * 32 power4 processors (1.1 GHz) • 2 * 32 power4 processors (1.7 GHz) • 32 GB memory per node • Gigabit Ethernet • PCI-based SPswitch2 adapter • SP switch (250 MB/s) • GPFS File system (0.75 TB) NE ROC meeting, Amsterdam, October 28, 2004

Supercomputer facilities • Currently two systems, an SGI Origin3800 with 1024 MIPS CPUs and SGI ALTIX system with 416 Itanium CPUs • Origin 3800 - partitioned (7), shared memory per partition • ALTIX – 64 cpu nodes with shared memory SGI Origin 3800 SGI/Intel Altix 3700 NE ROC meeting, Amsterdam, October 28, 2004

  8. Tape facilities • Tape library with capacity of 1.2 PByte • Tape drive bandwidth 30MB/s uncompressed, 45MB/s compressed • Second tape library to be placed soon • starting with 250TB capacity (at Almere). Can grow to 60PB! SL8500 NE ROC meeting, Amsterdam, October 28, 2004
