The Story: • Phantom of the Opera: • Christine’s father dies, leaving her destitute and living in the opera house under the protection of the dressmaker • The Phantom lives in the opera house secretly in the depths beneath the house. He hears Christine sing and “forces” the owners to let her star in productions. • Raoul is Christine’s childhood sweetheart who wants to marry her and take her away. • When Christine first hears the phantom, she thinks it is her father who promised her he would send her an “angel of music”
