  1. Regional Training Provider Programme Allan Dean-Lewis Member – FIA Institute Executive Committee

  2. Basic Principles • No one country is more important than another • We can all learn from each other • Safety is paramount in everything we do • Raising standards and improving competency levels in the sport is a common aim • Building knowledge and understanding provides benefits for all

  3. The Accreditation and Regional Training Provider status • Accreditation initiative is a voluntary scheme, requiring an ASN to submit an application to the Institute for assessment • ASN indicates how well it measures itself against a series of benchmarks, aligned with the best practice principles from the framework - an excellent self-assessment tool • Useful way for an ASN to identify its strengths and weaknesses • Encourage other ASNs to follow the same process – 40 ASN’s have signalled their intention to seek accreditation going forward. • Once accreditation is granted, it sends a clear signal to other stakeholders regarding the ASN’s alignment to best practice. • Honoured to have attained gold level accreditation for our Officials Training Programmes and subsequently the opportunity to apply to become an FIA Institute-approved Regional Training Provider

  4. Accredited ASNs

  5. Key Benefits of the Regional Training Provider status • RTP’s are able to develop a customised solution for ASN’s to meet their specific needs • Allows ASN’s to choose which RTP they wish to work with • During 2010, 6 grants provided to ASN’s to work with the Institute’s two current RTP’s, CAMS and the MSA UK. These types of projects, with ASN’s working in partnership with the RTP’s, will be given priority when funding applications are received each year. • In 2011, the FIA Institute will continue to encourage other ASN’s to seek accreditation and for those with appropriate capabilities to put themselves forward to operate as an RTP • Medium term goal is to have at least one RTP for each of the 5 funding areas.

  6. The MSA UK product • Early adopter of business model, which provides a platform for our own continuing development • Proud of our historical reputation in the training of volunteer officials and marshals • We use a dedicated and specially trained team of International Trainers, able to work with translators • Recognise the commercial opportunity that RTP status provides for the MSA UK. • By using experienced senior volunteer officials and subject specialists to deliver training in a professional way, any profits will be reinvested to benefit future training in the sport • Provide value to the ASN network

  7. How can our RTP assist ASNs • Exploratory meetings to assess current status and identify future needs and requirements • Delivered in the UK or in the country of origin • Develop individual proposals with a range of options phased according to budget or time needs • Typical content might include, but not be limited to: • - ASN and Club Development • - Train the Trainer courses • - Senior officials training • - Marshals Training • - Major incident planning • - Young Driver Development and Training • Grants from the FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund may be provided to ASNs to support these activities (ASN applies, NOT the RTP)
