  2. LI: To understand the importance of forgiveness ‘Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us’

  3. Based on Matthew 18: 21-22 Peter went to Jesus and asked him, “Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me?” Then he thought for a moment. Jesus, he knew, really meant his friends to be generous when someone needed to be forgiven. So Peter added, “as often as seven times?” Anyone who could forgive as many times as seven must be very generous indeed decided Peter. But Jesus answered, “Not seven, I tell you, but seventy times seven.”

  4. In pairs, discuss the following questions…. • What question did Peter ask Jesus? • Why does the storyteller think Peter might have asked this question? • Can you think of another reason? • What answer did Jesus give? What did he answer mean? • What was Jesus teaching Peter?

  5. Make a list of the times you have forgiven or been forgiven by others In your groups think of a story that involves forgiveness.
