  2. Cassini is a space orbiter to study Saturn Cassini was made by Nasa, ESA, and ASI It was launched in October 15 1997 and has orbited Saturn but also retuned data about Jupiter and the Heliosphere It reached Saturn's orbit on July 1 2004. This was the first landing in the outer solar system The Cassini solstice mission should be over in 2017 after twice being extended. What is it?

  3. To determine the 3 dimensional structure and dynamic behavior of the rings of Saturn • To Determine the composition of the satellite • surfaces and the geological history of each object • To Determine the nature and origin of the dark material on Iapetus's leading hemisphere • Used to Measure the three-dimensional structure and dynamic behavior of the magnetosphere • To help Study the dynamic behavior of Saturn's atmosphere at cloud level • To Study the time variability of Titan's clouds and hazes • To Characterize Titan's surface on a regional scale Cassini’s objectives

  4. The space agencies • that made Cassini • NASA • ESA (European space agency) • ASI (Italian space agency ) contributors

  5. About Saturn • The rings are not flat they are about 10m thick • The rings are mostly composed of water and ice. Also a red substance which is un identified. • The surface of titan has earth like abilities • we used to think titan was covered with liquid seas, now we know they are only at the poles. What have we learned

  6. The titan booster fails , • meaning that it would explode. • the control system could fail • meaning loss of the mission. • information on titan • information on Saturn's rings • information on Saturn • learn about the orbit of Saturn's moons Risks

  7. There are not very many plans for the future . the mission is about over. Although there is one mission left. plans
