  3. Professionalism • a person who is expert at his or her work: You can tell by her comments that this editor is a real professional.

  4. Professionalism in a Student Ambassador • Representing the “BCC brand” • Being who you are – improved.

  5. What is the “BCC Brand?”

  6. Professionally representing BCC • Be an expert at your work • Use what you know – your expert experience at BCC

  7. What is an expert? • Someone who knows his or her stuff • Someone who illustrates that stuff in a way that others understand. What do you know about Bristol Community College?

  8. Exercise: • Describe an experience that demonstrates how Bristol Community College changes the world, learner by learner.

  9. Meaning? • Describe: What does “diplomacy” look like?

  10. Diplomacy • Tact and skill in dealing with people. • Subtly skillful handling of a situation 

  11. What diplomacy is not • Lying • Telling people what they want to hear • Making stuff up if you don’t know

  12. Exercise • You are giving a tour and you point out the TASC, describing the services offered there. A mother says to her son, “Well, that’s where you’ll need to spend all your time.” How do you respond?
