  2. Today’s Agenda • Contract Updates • Membership cards signed • Continuing the fights for Inclusion Done Right and the Promise Act • Info on BTU events for the year

  3. What does it mean to be a BTU member? The BTU believes in building POWER! Professional growth and expertise. Organizing with our students, parents, and community. Workers’ rights and labor solidarity. Equity, inclusion and social justice. Respect for our profession and members.

  4. What did we win in our new contract? • A full-time nurse in every Boston Public School • 23 new student-facing licensed mental health providers • Additional staffing for inclusion classrooms • A $300,000 investment from the City of Boston to combat student homelessness • A full-time paraprofessional for all K2 classes city-wide • A 2% raise for educators in each of the three years • Compensation to promote equity for some of the district’s lowest paid educators Has everyone signed a membership card!?

  5. The fight for Inclusion Done Right continues... The fight for the schools our #StudentsDeserve did not end with the contract ratification We’re gearing up for Inclusion Done Right! Join us on XX Date, Time, Place for our Campaign Kickoff Meeting! Who can represent our school at this meeting?

  6. The fight for fully funded schools continues… MA’s state education funding formula hasn’t been updated since 1993! What could our school do with more funding?

  7. 1993 was the last year the funding was updated. Get it?? Our goal: Send 1,993postcards to the MA State Legislature Don’t know who your legislators are? https://malegislature.gov/search/findmylegislator Take a few minutes to fill out a postcard for each of your legislators. Be sure to sign with your name and address. Give them to your Building Rep! How can we get students and parents involved in signing postcards?? Donut Challenge: Collect 100+ postcards and BTU staff will deliver donuts to your school!

  8. What else is coming up? • September 11: First membership meeting of the year • September 24: Vote in primary elections • September 21: Back-to-school book fair • October 18-19: Fall leadership conference • November 5: Vote in general elections When will our first Faculty Senate meeting be?
