  1. World History Grade 9 Mr. Homburg Open House

  2. Content Summary • Students are exposed to a global perspective of our world. • Students study the development and interaction of cultures, the interactions between humans and the environment, and the creation, expansion, and interaction of economic, political, and social systems.

  3. Skills Summary • Students will focus on viewing and studying history through the lens of social science perspectives. These perspectives include: Geographic, political, economic, cultural, sociological, psychological, and technological.

  4. End-of-Unit Assessments • At the end of each unit of study, students will complete an assessment that focuses on a summative Grade Level Expectation (GLE) that summarizes the learning for the unit.

  5. Unit One • GLE: Students will understand how the following theme, Global Expansion and Encounter, help to define this era in world history • Students will complete a performance assessment and a reading assessment. • For the performance assessment students will select an event and will take a position on how that event played a primary role in the defining the era of “Global Expansion and Encounter”

  6. Unit Two • GLE: Students will analyze how individuals and movements have shaped world history • Performance assessment: Students will select a revolution between 1750-1920 and identify three or more causes of the revolution using primary and secondary sources

  7. Unit Three • GLE: Students will analyze the multiple causal factors of conflicts in world history • Performance Assessment: Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA)

  8. Unit Four • GLE: Students will analyze how an understanding of world history can help us prevent problems today • Performance assessment: Students will select two global events or issues that have a common theme. Students will compare, contrast and analyze the two events/issues and explain hat can be learned from their analysis
