Reminder of the Task Ahead… • Making sure all Team Leaders are a member of both TI rooms • Making sure entire Advanced Team is a contributing member of ABPC 21st Century Tapped In room and team has a schedule for posting. • Posting of projects and team on ABPC wiki (http://abpc.wikispaces.com) • Description of project in Advanced Team Leaders room in Tapped In • Creation of Team Blog where all team members are contributors (not just comments but able to post) • Sharing of Team Blog urls in Advanced Team Leaders room in Tapped InOnce all are listed I will suprglu them together and share that address with Beginning and Advanced Teams • As a Team develop learning contract and post to ABPC wiki ( by Nov. 22, 2006)

  4. Learning Contracts What are they? Why are they effective with adult learners? How do you develop a learning contract? What do they look like?

  5. What are they? Learning contracts are a way of individualizing learning based on your internal needs and expectations and still accomplishing the external needs of an organization or the professional development goals our schools set for us as teachers.

  6. Why are they effective with adult learners? • Adult Learners prefer to be self-directed in their learning. • Learning contracts nurture that self-directed learning.

  7. How do you develop a learning contract? • Typically they Learning Contracts involve… • Figuring out what your team needs to learn in terms of your 21st Century teaching and learning goals and aligning those with the school’s focus. • Formulating personal and team objectives • Identifying the resources needed • Choosing strategies for mastery of objectives • Deciding on what evidence/artifacts will be used to evaluate outcomes

  8. Determining Learning Needs • Create a Competency Model (set of competencies) • Identify the gap between where you are and where you want to be in terms of the competency • The gap is the learning need

  9. Develop Learning Objectives • Each of the learning needs identified should be translated into a learning objective. • Describe what you will learn– not what you will do. • They do not have to be written behaviorally– but they could.

  10. Identify Needed Resources- (Material and Human)

  11. Decide on learning activities to master objectives What will your team do to learn what you want to learn? Who will you interview? What will you do? What will you create?

  12. Evidence of Accomplishment How will you prove mastery of the objectives? What artifact will you share? What will serve as evidence?
